Eileen Gray’s designs are simple, yet modern and functional. She uses mostly minimalist colours, sticking to black, white and silver.
Her rug designs are a flash of colour in the midst of the functional objects. They have bright, simple designs, which are very modern, and usually have a monochromatic colour palette.
The work is split into 2 groups with distinctly different shapes: some of her work is very angular, containing many contrasting angles that make the piece busy and complex, allowing it to be interesting and a centrepiece. Her other designs are centred on curves and circles, incorporating curves into sleek designs. These designs are softer, and fit easily into more ‘everyday’ rooms.
