Textiles: Week 2, Paper Work

Working with coloured paper to create negative shapes, and then working over the top of that to add more of the composition. We didn't use the negative shape as an outline of the object once we began drawing, but just looked as it as a patterned background to work on top of.

Working on the grounds made from envelopes using several different materials: ink, pen and emulsion paint.

Here I tried using watered down bleach to lighten and smudge some areas. I began at the top of the page, but the spray was too direct, so it ran down the page, creating white tracts, but then I misted the bottom, and used the bleach to smudge the blue ink, and create a more flowing shape.
 Monoprinting

These were the first things we did from the still life, concentrating on the quality of line, and trying to use one continuous line, rather than sketching.

For this piece I worked from the same object each time, but rotated the paper 90 degrees each time I drew it, creating a complex and interesting pattern.

These are the final pieces I created from my drawings, using a combination of all the techniques  I had used.
